Greek Amazon Warrior Woman History portrays the Greek Amazon woman as fierce warriors, participating with their male counterpart in times of war and sometimes denying their feminism by wearing clothes that Greek men wear. Our beautiful life size depiction of the Amazon woman is thought to be a replica of the same piece created by Polykleitos, the ancient Greek sculptor and Phidias. Polykleitos went on to to win that competition with his depiction of the Amazon woman. A replica of the actual statue created by Polykleitos and which is also reproduced here, can be found in the Metropolitan Museum of NY.
