This magnificent reproduction is based on the original Roman statue known as the Spinario or Boy Plucking a Thorn from the Foot. This statue is thought to represent a portrait of Marcius, a diligent Roman messenger who would not be detoured from his mission despite being pricked by a bitter thorn in his foot.
