The griffin which is noted to be a symbol of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, is a mythological creature that is represented in many forms. Oftentimes noted to possessing the head of an eagle, ancient Egyptian and Roman cultures have also portrayed the griffin as possessing the massive body of a beast with the head of a lion. In this form, our sculptor has captured the grace and beauty of the griffin as it fiercely guards the solar ball it has been entrusted with.
